ALDS: New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers Pitching Preview

As we all know the Playoffs are finally here, and after all the drama on that last day of baseball, we are ready to let the chase for 28 begin.  The New York Yankees will be facing the Detroit Tigers on what it should be a very interesting ALDS.  The Yankees have opted to go with CC Sabathia to lead us in game one, which was a no brainer.  CC has been the best starter in the rotation since he first put on the pinstripes, Detroit, is going with Verlander.

Here's what we can expect from game 1 of the ALDS:

Pitching:

CC Sabathia has a record of  7-4 in the Postseason, which is what everyone keeps bringing up to me, Not the best record? Maybe, but in the ALDS CC has a record of 4-0, with a 3.42 ERA, 23.3 Innings pitched with just 9 earned runs, with 23 strike outs and just one walk, that's pretty impressive if you asked me.  Now if we look at his stats against the Tigers, CC Started the season with a win against the Tigers, however in May 3rd, he lost to the Tigers in Detroit, I would know, I was at that game (UGH).  It also helpful to add, that CC Had 11 Wins at home this season, so that homefield advantage always comes in handy!

Justin Verlander had a great season, no one in their right minds can deny this, not only a great season, a Cy Young winning season, Winning 24 games and Losing 5.  I would go as far as saying that without him, the Tigers would'nt have made it to the Playoffs.  Now out of those 5 games he lost, 2 of them were against the Yankees.  Both times the Yankees saw Verlander this year, he lost both games.  We can't really rely on this, since it was so early on in the season, but it helps gain confindence, we can beat the guy!  But I have to bring up that some of our best guys in the lineup, don't even have a hit against him this year, so if the Yankees can get Swisher, Granderson and Cano to figure him out, it'll help even more.

I believe that if the CC is in the ALDS zone, which he is so successful at, and if the Yankees lineup brings it, all we need is the sandman to close the game, and we will lead the series 1-0 ... What's your opinion?
